Our outstanding orthopedic staff of talented and experienced clinical support personnel assist and complement our physicians in providing patient care. During the course of your treatment, these professionals are in constant communication with your physician in a shared effort to identify areas requiring more or less attention. Our clinical support staff includes the following:

Physician Assistants

Physician Assistants (PAs) are licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. State licensure requires that PAs graduate from an accredited program and pass a national certification exam.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses who have additional education and training in a specialty area. Most NPs have a master's degree and board certification in their specialty. NPs diagnose and treat a wide range of health problems.

Medical Assistants

Medical Assistants perform a wide variety of administrative and medical functions including obtaining information from patients, recording vital signs, explaining treatments and assisting the physician during the examination. Under the direct supervision of a physician, they may also call in drug refills, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, remove sutures and change dressings.

X-Ray Technologists

Xray imaging is usually the first step in orthopedic treatment. When supervised by a skilled and experienced X-Ray Technologist, x-rays are a highly effective tool for diagnosing bone fractures and other orthopedic injuries. X-Ray Technologists are degreed professionals with extensive equipment training.

MRI Technologists

Many MRI Technologists train first as X-Ray Technologists and later undergo additional training to become an MRI Technologist. This additional training and certification is necessary to produce an accurate scan, which the radiologist then interprets to assist the physician in providing the highest level of medical care.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists (OTs) certified health care professionals who are proficient in the treatment of fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, arthritis, cumulative trauma/repetitive sprain, and more. Your OT's goal is to help you achieve your maximum potential and resume performing the tasks of daily living and work. During the course of treatment, your OT will document your progress, conduct periodic examinations and modify treatments when necessary.

Physical Therapists

Physical Therapists (PTs) are highly educated, licensed health care professionals who help patients reduce pain and improve or restore mobility. Your PT will examine you and develop a plan to promote your ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. Your PT will document your progress, conduct periodic examinations and modify treatments when necessary.

Certified Hand Therapist

A certified hand therapist (CHT) is an occupational or physical therapist who has five years of training in hand therapy. A Certified Hand Therapist has passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper-quarter rehabilitation. CHTs are required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.
